Overview

O K Chinese Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Van Nuys on Van Nuys Blvd, stands as a solid choice for those craving hearty Chinese fare without breaking the bank. This local gem caters to a wide audience—from longtime regulars seeking comfort food to curious newcomers drawn by its reputation for generous portions.

The menu highlights such as Fried Rice, Chow Mein, and Orange Chicken form the backbone of O K’s offering, showcasing classic American-Chinese staples that have won over many diners. Combos featuring these staples deliver a complete, filling meal that appeals to those looking for convenience and variety. Customers repeatedly praise the sheer volume of food served here—portions big enough to satisfy even the heartiest appetites. This makes the restaurant especially attractive for families, groups, or anyone who prefers value alongside taste.

Dining at O K Chinese Restaurant is an experience defined by its unpretentious atmosphere and functional setting. Some visitors note the space is basic, perhaps leaning toward the dive-y side, yet it remains clean and practical, emphasizing substance over style. The servers add a welcoming touch with their friendly and professional demeanor, enhancing the overall visit despite the no-frills environment.

Quality-wise, O K walks a careful line. Loyal patrons celebrate its fresh ingredients and crisp vegetables, especially in dishes like the Chicken Chow Mein. However, some visitors find the flavors and textures—like the chow mein noodles or orange chicken—somewhat inconsistent compared to higher-end or chain counterparts. Nevertheless, the generous serving sizes often overshadow these minor shortcomings, providing a satisfying experience that keeps many coming back.

Its location in Van Nuys lends convenience for local workers and residents seeking quick, reliable takeout or a casual sit-down meal. The parking situation is manageable during off-peak hours, though the restaurant tends to buzz with activity during lunch and dinner rushes.

In summary, O K Chinese Restaurant excels as a dependable spot for no-nonsense, substantial Chinese food. Its strengths lie in portion size and approachable prices rather than culinary finesse. For those who prioritize quantity and a straightforward, familiar menu in a casual setting, it’s a worthy stop on Van Nuys Boulevard’s dining map.

Tried this place for the first time after seeing the reviews and I got to say, I'm extremely satisfied! The portions are beyond big, they're huge! They definitely do not skimp! The food was fresh, there were quite a bit of people so the food wasn't sitting long. The flavors are great! The veggies are nice and crisp, cooked too perfection! Not soft and soggy at all! Will be returning the next time I'm craving some quick Chinese!

Really good Chinese food! And let me tell you. They pack it!! Loll and for a decent price. Not a lot of protein options as most of their items are chicken but, I still recommend!

So this place does give a big portion of the entrees here so all the Instagram and Facebook reels are true. I finally had a chance to visit this place after seeing so much reels about it. I found parking just fine around 11am but I can see it getting busy in the afternoon so be aware. When I walked inside, they had like 2 guest eating inside and I will say it's not the best clean restaurant. I believe this place is cash only because I looked at other reviews but the prices are still the same. I got the combo plate with Chow Mein, orange chicken and kung Pao chicken. You could tell that they serve you a big portion. I paid for my food, left a tip and went home to eat my food. The chow mein is okay, very greasy and the texture of the noodle isn't like the other popular place. The orange chicken I will not recommend if you tried Panda orange chicken because it's lower in quality. The kung pao chicken I thought was okay so I would recommend that one over the orange chicken. Overall you get more food and they wrap it in it's own bag under another bag to keep the lid closed. But where you get bigger portion, you lost more in quality of your food.

I saw a post regarding this place and decided to stop by to try them out, the post I saw showed that they were very generous with their portions, I can confirm that they do serve humongous portions that you can just barely close the lid of the food Container. I ordered the chow mien/fried rice with spicy pork and 3pcs fried chicken wings, I love the spicy pork, the fried rice and chow mien were also good. They have other foods I have to try out. The servers were friendly and professional The dining area feels kinda divey but functional and clean, I came in around 5:30pm, not sure of their operating hours. I looked for and didn’t see a sign stating their hours, I wish they have a self serve soda fountain instead of selling them by the can.

Combo 2, half and half fried rice and noodles with 2 entrees for 11.95 (13.09 with tax) and the serving was massive, like it is overflowing. I got the Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. I really liked the Orange Chicken, it’s crunchy and freshly made. The kung pao is a little salty for my taste. The servers were nice and they really give you a hefty serving. There is actually a bit of a queue because there were loads of customers on a Sunday lunch time but the servers were fast. Also I paid by cash. Not sure if they accept card. I forgot to ask.
